Roscoe's Acupuncture Experience

Img_0291

Roscoe recently had the good fortune to get some acupuncture done on him.  I've been wanting to do this for a long time as Roscoe has been showing the signs of his age for a few years now.  His discomfort and stiffness become more troublesome in the summer when the humidity is high.  I have been using Chinese herbs for about 2 1/2 years to help him stay limber so I was especially curious how he would do with acupuncture.

Roscoe and I met the vet Andrea Rybar and she began by observing her new patient.  She immediately noticed the stiffness of his hips and the lack of movement there.  I had discussed his joint issues with her before our meeting and in her opinion his shoulder issues were from compensating for hip discomfort. That made sense!

Doggie Divas and Canine Cologne

Img_0283
We went out to the local store and did our doggie diva thing on Saturday.  My boys got their pics done with the Easter bunny, this was good. I got my son and dog in one shot!  After the pic I let out the fashion hound in me and took some time to inspect all the accessories they make for dogs now.  Collars and leashes come in an array of styles, so we can show off the personality we've chosen for our dog.  Anything from super sparkly, rockstar to plain Jane leather. There are the perfumes and colognes to make them smell how we want them to.  This is good because Roscoe definitively has his own idea of what smells good and it usually involves something rotten (UGH).

It's Walking Season!

Img_0164

Living in Missouri we are limited to the times of year when the elements permit you to walk outdoors comfortably. That time has come! Out on the trails I feel happy, centered and peaceful. This is hands down my favorite time and place! I go out with Roscoe, music and when my son comes, all of his accoutrement. Every walk I go on makes me feel stronger in mind, body and spirit. I find music gives me a boost and makes the walking easier, with a really upbeat tempo, I might even feel like doing some jogging (might is strongly stressed). I like to go where there is a good chance to see wildlife, both animals and plants. Since we have changing seasons and are in the path of many migrations we get a variety of each all year.
