Having a dog is hands down one of the best (continuing) experiences of my life. They bring you joy and lift lonliness away. They teach you how to love and take care of another being.
I wasn't expecting my dog to school me so much on this particular feeling though:Embarrassment! The funny ( and occasionally aggravating) part about this is that dogs are usually oblivious to the fact that they just made you look stupid in front of an amused crowd.
Here are some of the most embarrassing scenarios I've had over the last 10 years:
1. For aproximately 4 years, even after 2 obedience classes, no one would sit within 4 chair lengths of us at the vet because Roscoe was so "excited" to be there. I literally had the only dog who would drag me through the office when his name was called because he couldn't wait to get treaties from the Doc.
2. Getting knocked down Charlie Brown style in the back yard in front of friends. Complete with feet in the air and the AAAARRRRRGGGGHHH sound.
